Be SMART in setting your 2018 goals
We're already 3 days into 2018. I'm sure many of you have made goals for this year, and if you haven't, you still have 362 days left to do so. Research shows that about 60-92% of people do NOT accomplish the goals that they set in the beginning of the year. You are not going to be one of those people! This is how:
Make SMART goals.
Be SPECIFIC with your goals. Make sure they are clear, direct, and well defined.
Make sure your goals are MEASURABLE. Be precise when labeling dates, numbers, and times for your goals to hold yourself accountable and measure your level of success.
Be sure your goals are ATTAINABLE. That it is possible for you to accomplish these goals and that your best self is capable of doing so.
Set RELEVANT goals. You want your goals to be aligned with one another as well as where and how you see your future self.
Make sure your goals are TIMELY. Uphold yourself to a completion date.
Following these guidelines makes your goals and their action plan clear and concise! It seems so apparent, a sure way to success. So why do majority of people stray from their goal plan? They aren't emotionally connected to their why. Ask yourself why you want to accomplish your goal. Why do you want to lose that 20 lbs? If you come up with a list of "so my knees don't ache, so I can live longer for my children, be more active in their lives, wear a swimsuit on our family vacation, go hiking with my husband and have my butt look great in my favorite pair of jeans that I haven't fit into for the last 5 years", you're WAY more likely to accomplish that goal than simply thinking "Because I want to be thin". Really connect to your why and write it down for each goal.
Take 5-10 minutes to read your goals every morning. With them on your mind your are setting daily intentions to make decisions aligned with your goals.
Now go head, make your SMART 2018 goals and identify your why. Be sure to include goals in each of these fields: Career, Financial, Family, Relationships, Social Life, Health, Learning/Personal Growth, and Leisure/Activity/Travel.
Cheers to knocking 2018 out of the park!!
